Tabla

Shaunak created a composition in Jhaptaal all by himself. He played Kayda, Rela, Paltas and ended his performance with a bedam Chakradhaar Tihaai. He even coded a Jhaptaal lehera himself in the lehera Machine.

Shaunak performed his life's first accompaniment on Tabla on a Raag Hamsadhwani bandish. He played a few taal variations like Kism, Mukhde and Tihaiyaan to beautify the performance. Then he performed a Tabla Solo of a Tirakit Kayada in Teentaal Madhya Laya and a few Tukde (pieces) and Tihai in Teentaal drut lay. Notice how Shaunak 'sings' the kayada matching the raag of the lehra while doing padhant (introducing the kayada). 

Shaunak completed 'Praveshika Purna' examination in Tabla with Distinction from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya! This is 3rd exam in Tabla which equals the level of passing a Grade 10 Board Examination. Shaunak performed Delhi Kayda- one of the first kaydas of Delhi Gharana, and recited and played tukdas with his classmates at GuruVandana programme organised by Tablagyan Academy.
